AIAU: Materials Matter: The Big Idea Course 1 1LU/HSW Know the health and environmental impacts of building products and key drivers for materials transparency in the marketplace.DescriptionYou wouldn’t buy a car without checking its gas mileage, so why wouldn’t you want to know what goes into your building? In this course, you’ll learn about the potential health and environmental impacts of the products that go into our buildings. You’ll also look at key drivers pushing transparency in the marketplace including client demand and green rating systems.
AIAU: Emerge by AIAU: Conquering the Construction Site- 1 LU/HSW
Now, more than ever, architects must be keenly aware of building enclosure demands and design considerations. How can you feel competent—and confident—in your practice's approach? This course will provide a toolkit of guidelines for assemblies, details, components, and materials important in designing high-performance building enclosures.Learn about the role of the architect during the construction phase, what it means to lead construction administration in your project, and how construction administration is important to the development of your future projects.DescriptionWhen defining the basic services of an architect, we often look at the phases of a project. Our industry generally accepts that there are 5 phases to an architectural project: Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bid or Negotiation, Construction Phase. The two longest phases in the process of moving through an architectural project tend to be the Construction Documents phase and the Construction Phase. A lot of attention is given to the first three phases of the project: schematic design, design development, & construction documents. The role of the architect is most clearly defined in these three phases. However, there is still a lot of work to be done.
