Membership

Individual architects joining the AIA become members of the national, state and local components, each offering valuable benefits.

Benefits of Membership

AIA members have the industry leadership opportunities and member benefits at the national, state and local levels, bringing increased value to your membership investment. The AIA continually strives to provide you with the resources and tools you need to meet your professional goals, including:
  • Program and updates to earn you Continuing Education, including online webinars, quizzes and tracking of learning units (including IDP learning unit tracking).
  • Networking opportunities at the AIA’s annual convention and design expositions
  • Special publications, such as Architect Magazine, AIArchitects, online issues of residential architect, Eco structure  and Eco home publications.
  • Discounts on the AIA contract documents, recognized as the industry standard.

Architect Members

Individuals with an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority are eligible for Architect membership.

Architect membership

Associate Members

Associate membership is open to individuals who meet one of the following criteria:  
  • Professional degree in architecture learn about a special offer for new graduates
  • Currently work under the supervision of an architect
  • Currently enrolled in the Intern Development Program (AXP) and working toward licensure
  • Faculty member in a university program in architecture

Emeritus Members

Individuals who have had an architectural license from a U.S. licensing authority for at least 15 years and are retired and at least age 70 are eligible for Emeritus membership.
